Rail passenger transport
In passenger transport a total of 242.1 (2009: 239.7) million passengers were transported on the rail network on Austria’s federal territory by domestic and foreign railway companies in the year 2010. This represents a rise of 1.0% compared to the preceding year. The share of all foreign railway operating companies, which transported a total of 1.1 million passengers (2009: 1.9 million), cumulated to 0.5% (2009: 0.8%).
The transport performance in passenger transport increased by 0.9% to 10.7 billion passenger kilometres whereof 0.1% (2009: 0.5%) was conducted by foreign rail operating companies.
