Air passenger transport

In commercial aviation (scheduled and non-scheduled transport) in 2011, almost 25.8 million air passengers (including transit) – this equals to an increase of about 1.4 million passengers or 5.6% compared with 2010 – were transported by a total of 312 502 (-2.5%) flight movements at Austria’s six airports. Scheduled airline services accounted for 24.0 million or 92.9% of air passengers, which was a rise of 6.7%, while non-scheduled airline services recorded around 1.8 million passengers (a share of 7.1%), which was a drop of 6.8% compared with the previous year.

Vienna International Airport, where almost 21.1 million passengers (21 096 398) were registered in 2011, showed an ascent of 1 413 808 passengers or 7.2% (including transit). With a total of 1 700 983 were also more passengers counted in Salzburg than in 2010, which meant an increase of 75 141 or 4.6% in 2011. The remaining four Austrian airports showed decreases compared with the year 2010: Klagenfurt with 376 198 (-50 737 or -11.9%), Innsbruck with 997 020 (-36 492 or -3.5%), Graz with 976 414 passengers (-13 545 or -1.4%) and Linz with 679 220 (-12 819 or -1.9%).
