Population in private Households with foreign background
Both parents of persons with a foreign background are born outside of the country. This definition equates to the "Recommendations for the 2010 censuses of population and housing" of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Subsequently this group can be divided into immigrants of the first generation (Persons born outside the country) and immigrants of the second generation (children of first generation immigrants born in Austria).
In the frame of the ad hoc module 2008 for the Austrian Labour Force Survey for the first time questions of the country of birth of both parents were included. Based on this information the number of persons in private households with foreign background can be calculated.
