Most popular first names for babies with Austrian citizenship

• Anna was the most popular girl’s name for the third time
• Lukas has been the most popular baby’s name for boys for fifteen years

Anna and Lukas topped the charts in 2010 when it came to the first names given to newborn babies in Austria. Out of a total of 78 742 babies who were born in 2010, the first names of the 66 858 newborns (32 650 girls and 34 208 boys) with Austrian citizenship were analysed. Parents chose the name Anna 864 times (2.7%) for girls and Lukas 993 times (2.9%) for boys. The name Anna reached the number one position for the third time after 2002 und 2004 since entering the "Top Ten" in 1992. The name Lukas entered the "Top Ten" in 1991 and has been the most popular name each year since 1996.
