Employees

Employees are persons who work for a public or private employer and who receive compensation in the form of wages, salaries, fees, gratuities, payment by results or payment in kind; non-conscripted members of the armed forces are also included.

According to ILO definitions a person is considered to be employed if he or she worked for at least one hour in the reference week, or did not work due to holiday, illness, etc. but is normally in employment. Persons on long term absences as e.g. women on parental leave are included in the category of employed persons if they have a formal attachment to the job.
