In line with the EU-harmonised concept, the enterprise is the principal survey unit and is used to present data concerning turnover and employed persons in particular. For certain other characteristics (e.g. production output, volume of work) and for the purposes of regionalised analysis, the establishment is also used as the unit of observation. The monthly short term statistics in industry and construction, which were introduced in 1996, constitute the basis for satisfying the EU Regulation concerning short term statistics on the one hand, and on the other are used to determine the national production of goods as per the EU Regulation on the establishment of a Community survey of industrial production. They thus serve as one of the main sources of information for assessing the economic development of Austria and the overall European economic and monetary area.
The accumulated annual results for the last three years can be found under “Table(s)”.
