Youth education attainment level

Long term trends

When compared internationally, the youth education attainment level in Austria is of a relatively high standard and has hardly changed in recent years. This indicator is used to measure the proportion of 20 to 24 year olds who have at least an upper secondary qualification.

Current results

The youth education attainment level in Austria was 85.4% in 2011 (annual average) (EU-15: 76.6%; EU-27: 79.0% - comparative figures for 2010). Overall, around 436 000 young people had a further education qualification, of whom 212 000 were young men and 224 000 were young women.
