The basket of goods for producer price statistics in agriculture and forestry currently includes around 216 products from the animal, crop and forestry sectors. The prices are weighted according to Laender (federal provinces) prices without VAT, which are aggregated to give a federal average price. The price data are collected in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, Agrarmarkt Austria and the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture.
In the year 2011 the prices for the animal and vegetable products developed very variously.
A price increase of 10.1% over the previous year was
recorded for pigs of carcass quality
S - P at €1.52/kg, and piglets also achieved a positive balance at €1.99/kg
Producer prices for poultry can also be described
as very satisfactory in comparison with the previous year, with the
year´s prices for boiler chickens for fattening, live weight at €93.35/100
kg
Dairy farmers received €35.45 for 100 kg of cow’s milk
A negative trend was seen in cereals €137.47/tonne
A good price of €37.77/t has been reached for the sugar beets in this year.
Bad price trends were seen in the vegetable sector. The price
of carrots dropped 5.6% to €31.48/100kg, and the 2010 price level
for tomatoes class I (in the previous year
In Austrian fruit production the apple
takes the greatest importance. The producer prices (annual average)
for apples (class I) amounted to €45.74/100kg which corresponds to
a plus of 36.2% in relation to the previous year. Very good prices were
also paid for strawberries, at €276.96/100kg
